Project Background:
Valor EPC was engaged to conduct the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for a new sour gas processing plant located in the Montney. The project aimed to design a state-of-the-art facility that encompassed various stages of gas processing, while adhering to strict environmental and safety regulations. The plant's scope included inlet metering, separation, amine sweetening, acid gas compression, acid gas dehydration, refrigeration, NGL de-ethanization, sales compression, condensate stabilization, vapor recovery, power generation, waste heat recovery, and product loading facilities.
The project was carried out in collaboration with a local fabricator to provide an Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication (EPF) lump sum price, ensuring cost-effective and streamlined execution.
Solution & Execution:
Valor EPC's senior project team, boasting a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise in gas processing and sour gas operations, played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the FEED project:
1. Process Simulation and Equipment Configuration: Valor's Process group utilized production rates and conducted a comprehensive process simulation to determine the optimal equipment configuration that met project requirements while emphasizing cost efficiency.
2. Client-Specific Requirements: Valor EPC worked closely with the client to incorporate specific project requirements into the design, thereby minimizing the likelihood of significant changes during the subsequent detailed engineering phase.
3. Competitive Bid Process: To ensure the selection of high-quality equipment at competitive prices, Valor undertook a rigorous competitive bid process.
4. Effective Communication and Collaboration: Close collaboration among project owners, operations, and Valor EPC ensured that technical requirements and associated costs were effectively identified and addressed.
Final Results:
The FEED process, combined with Valor's extensive historical project data and industry experience, culminated in the establishment of an EPF price for the project. The design not only met the client's needs but also showcased Valor EPC's expertise in guiding the FEED process.
As a direct outcome of the successful FEED, the project was effectively de-risked and secured funding for the subsequent detailed design phase. Valor EPC's commitment to quality, collaboration, and industry expertise played a pivotal role in the seamless progression from concept to a well-defined and funded project.
