FEED - Acid Gas Injection
Project Background:
- Midstream sour gas plant needed egress for their acid gas as the current egress was no longer feasible
- Acid Gas Injection well planned to be drilled near the facility to facilitate the new egress
- Facilities (new and modification of existing) and pipelines would need to be designed/built to support
Solution & Execution:
- Determine the water content, composition and temperatures ranges for the acid gas. This was highly variable and caused the greatest complication in the design
- Based on the design conditions, determine what kind of conditioning would be required for the acid gas
- Due to the length of pipeline and potential low flow rate of the acid gas, acid gas dehydration was selected to condition the gas
- Pipeline design mostly complete, PLA acquired and land construction package complete as part of the FEED
- Major equipment and acid gas valves were bid, evaluated and ready to order
- Complete mechanical tie-in package was developed, bid and evaluated for execution at the next plant turn-around
- Class III cost estimate produced. Built up from construction quantities and solid equipment bids
- Existing equipment modifications (Amine, Compression, etc.) determined
Final Results:
- FEED design fully vetted with all client stakeholders ensuring all parties would work together to get the project done effectively
- Detailed FEED report produced for the client to be able to acquire full project funding
Project Highlights:
- Engineering was progressed well past FEED level of detail with the funds allocated to complete the FEED
- Review of entire design with operations allowed for an accurate tie-in package and HAZOP ready P&IDs to be created
- Ready to order major equipment when the project is fully sanctioned
