Detailed Design Construction & Startup Support
Project Background:
- Midstream sour gas plant needed egress for their acid gas as the current egress was no longer feasible
- Acid Gas Injection well drilled near the facility to facilitate the new egress
- Facilities (new and modification of existing) and pipelines were designed/built to support new egress
Solution & Execution:
- Determine the water content, composition and temperatures ranges for the acid gas. This was highly variable and caused the greatest complication in the design
- Based on the design conditions, determine what kind of conditioning would be required for the acid gas
- Due to the length of pipeline and potential low flow rate of the acid gas, glycol dehydration was selected to condition the gas
- Pipeline and wellsite design along with required regulatory support
- Major equipment and severe service acid gas valves were bid, evaluated and ordered
- Complete mechanical tie-in package was developed, bid, evaluated and awarded for execution during a scheduled plant turnaround
- Class III cost estimate produced. Built up from construction quantities and solid equipment bids. This secured full project funding
- Existing equipment modifications (Amine, Compression, etc.) designed
Final Results:
- Project was completed on budget, which included some unforeseen existing facility issues that were resolved as part of the original project budget
- Acid Gas injection system works as designed. Valor assisted with some operational issues during start-up to ensure operation was working effectively
Project Highlights:
- Complicated process design was successfully integrated into the existing facility to ensure the wide range of potential operating conditions could be satisfied
- Excellent quality construction work packages were produced that provided clear direction to the contractors with minimal requests for information in the field
- Valor assisted the client with a few post start-up issues involving tweaks that needed to be made on equipment outside of the project scope
